Tom Santopietro, a native of Waterbury, Connecticut, is the author of six highly acclaimed books published by St. Martin’s Press: The Importance of Being Barbra (2006) , The New York Times Book Review Editor’s Choice Considering Doris Day (2007), Sinatra In Hollywood (2008), The Godfather Effect (2012),the national bestseller The Sound of Music Story (2015) and Barbara Cook: Then and Now (2016).

Tom graduated from Trinity College (Hartford, Conn.), Phi Beta Kappa with departmental honors in English. He then worked as a tennis professional before attending the University of Connecticut School of Law, graduating with a JD.

For the past thirty years he has worked as a manager of over two dozen Broadway shows such as Phantom of the Opera, A Few Good Men, , Master Class , and Jersey Boys  He has worked directly with actors ranging from Glenn Close, Patti LuPone, Liam Neeson and Tommy Tune to Jason Robards, Valerie Harper and Bea Arthur.

Tom’s upcoming book, to be published in spring of 2018, is the highly anticipated Why To Kill a Mockingbird Matters: What Harper Lee’s Novel and the Iconic American Film Mean to Us Today. A frequent media commentator and interviewer, he lectures on classic films and conducts monthly interviews for Barnes and Noble In New York City.

He is extremely pleased not to be practicing law, and in his next life plans to return as Wimbledon Champion.

The first, based on his national best seller book The Sound of Music Story, is a behind the scenes look with film clips at the world’s most beloved movie- The Sound of Music.

The second, The Best Is Yet to Come is a witty and informative review of the superstar careers of Barbra Streisand, Doris Day, and Frank Sinatra, and the special place all three hold in American culture. The talk is based on Mr. Santopietro’s bestselling books The Importance of Being Barbra, Considering Doris Day and Sinatra in Hollywood.  In addition to fantastic “behind the scenes” information, the talk is also an examination of the evolution of pop culture in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s to the present day.

The third, Why To Kill a Mockingbird Matters, is taken from his highly anticipated upcoming (2018) book: Why To Kill a Mockingbird Matters- What Harper Lee’s Book and the Iconic American Film Mean To Us Today, combining stories of America’s most beloved novel with an inside look at the Academy Award winning film, to explain why, in the 21st century, To Kill a Mockingbird matters more to Americans of all stripes than ever before.
