Kenneth T. Walsh is an award-winning political journalist, a Washington insider, and an expert on American presidents. He has covered the presidency, presidential campaigns, and national politics for U.S. News & World Report since 1986. His work has spanned the presidencies of Ronald Reagan, George Herbert Walker Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and, currently, President Barack Obama. His political commentary currently appears in Ken Walsh’s Washington, his blog for the magazine’s online edition.

Walsh is also the author of five books: Family of Freedom: Presidents and African Americans in the White House, From Mount Vernon to Crawford: A History Of The Presidents and Their Retreats, Air Force One: A History of the Presidents and Their Planes, Ronald Reagan: Biography, and Feeding the Beast: The White House Versus the Press.

For his invaluable political perspective, he appears regularly on the top TV news networks and radio outlets including CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and NPR. He is also an adjunct professor of communication at American University in Washington, D.C., and has taught courses on politics and the media, media ethics, the presidency and the media, and how the media shapes history.

Respected for his extensive political reporting, he has won the two most prestigious awards for White House coverage: the Aldo Beckman Award in 1991 and 2007, and the Gerald R. Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting on the Presidency in 1992, 1998, and 2009. Walsh’s lasting presence on Capitol Hill and in-depth political stories make him a Washington authority and an in-demand political speaker.
