Sandy Schreier’s collection of 20th century fashion represents the largest and finest private collection in the world. New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and other museums as well, are planning to present  entire exhibitions of this collection in the near future.   Ms. Schreier was named one of America’s top hundred collectors for thirteen consecutive years by Art & Antiques magazine.

Besides her popular speaking engagements, Sandy has styled for the stage and screen, including Bette Midler’s tour.  She also appears on TV and does radio interviews.  Her TV career began in the Eighties when she was asked to appear as a regular to discuss film fashion, and continues today with appearances on CNN, BBC and AMC, where she appeared beginning in 1995.

In the Sixties, Ms. Schreier designed the costumes for the Supremes as well as accessories for Yves Saint Laurent.  Her designs appeared in both VOGUE and BAZAAR magazines.

Sandy has curated costume history exhibitions at museums worldwide.  Her exhibit CHIC TO CHIC broke attendance records at The Detroit Institute of Arts. Pieces of the Schreier collection have been exhibited at The Louvre, The Hermitage, The Museum of Fine Arts Houston and The Art Institute of Chicago.

Sandy Schreier is a major lender to The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s costume exhibitions, including ADRIAN, BLITHE SPIRIT, GODDESS, POIRET, MODEL AS MUSE & SCHIAPARELLI/PRADA;  FIT’s exhibition FASHIONING THE MODERN WOMAN and THE COUTURE ACCESSORY and  BALENCIAGA and FORTUNY at the Queen Sofia Institute in New York and the De Young Museum in San Francisco.

Ms Schreier is the author of HOLLYWOOD DRESSED & UNDRESSED (Rizzoli, 1998) and HOLLYWOOD GETS MARRIED (Clarkson Potter, 2002).   Workman Publishing’s calendars of both SHOES and HANDBAGS for 2008-10 are from The Schreier Collection.

Sandy’s career has included teaching courses in Couture as well as appraising private and public collections.  Articles about Ms. Schreier’s career have appeared in such publications as PEOPLE, VOGUE, ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST and in newspapers such as THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, THE NEW YORK TIMES and THE WASHINGTON POST.
